Saarbrücken / Frankfurt, June 14, 2010 – ItN Nanovation AG (ISIN DE000A0JL461), a portfolio company of Nanostart AG, has announced the signing of a joint venture agreement with Water Services Corporation, the national water supply and wastewater treatment company of the Republic of Malta. Under the agreement, each of the two partners will have a 50-percent share of the new venture which will commercialize container-based water treatment units based on CFM Systems^® ceramic flat filter membrane technology from ItN Nanovation and market these throughout the entire Mediterranean region.

 The first production model of the new water treatment system was presented and successfully placed into operation in Malta, clearing the way for the agreement in principle to establish the new joint venture. The preparation and start-up phase for series production should be completed in 2010, with the first commercial sales expected before the end of the year. Only operational tests remain before the product can be introduced to market, at which point the joint venture will be in regular business operation. The partners anticipate a steady increase in sales in the quarters following market launch, such that by the end of 2012, planned production capacity will be roughly 100 treatment units per year.

With the development of this highly efficient, ultra-compact water treatment system in a standard 20-foot shipping container, ItN Nanovation has used its proprietary ceramic flat filter membrane technology to set a new standard in integrated water treatment solutions, with excellent scalability and substantial revenue potential.
