Berlin / Frankfurt - The annual general meeting of MagForce Nanotechnologies AG has elected a new supervisory board. The new supervisory board consisting of three members will fulfill its statutory responsibilities for overseeing the company over the next five years. The new members are Dr. Walter Rust, an attorney and notary in Berlin; Dr. Peter Heinrich, co-founder and chairman of the management board of MediGene AG; and Professor Wolfgang M. Heckl, a noted scientist in nanotechnology research and general director of the Deutsches Museum, the world-famous museum of science and technology in Munich.
Following the AGM, Dr. Walter Rust was elected to serve as chairman of the supervisory board. As an attorney and notary in Berlin, as well as an accredited attorney-at-law in the State of New York, Dr. Rust advises technology companies throughout Germany on issues of company law, venture capital financing, licensing agreements and international contract law. He also serves as a lecturer and member of the MBA Advisory Board for the Berlin School of Economics as well as a lecturer at the Technical University of Berlin.
Dr. Peter Heinrich was elected as the deputy chairman of the supervisory board. Dr. Heinrich is the co-founder of MediGene AG and has served as the CEO since 1995. Prior to this he was at Wacker Chemie AG for almost eight years, where his responsibilities included building the biotechnology business as well as the management of international alliances. Dr. Heinrich is speaker and chairman of the executive board of BIO-Deutschland, an independent organization representing the interests of the German biotechnology industry. He also serves on the advisory board of the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI) and on the board of trustees of Bayern Innovativ GmbH. Beyond this, he is on the advisory board of Wirtschaftsrat Deutschland (German Economic Council) as part of the national expert group for growth and innovation, is a mentor and tutor at the Bavarian Elite Academy, and is on the supervisory board of the University of Augsburg’s MBA program.Professor Wolfgang M. Heckl was elected as the third member of the supervisory board. Professor Heckl is considered one of the world’s leading experts in the field of nanotechnology. His commitment to ongoing research in nanotechnology from its very early stages and to building public awareness of this groundbreaking technology were recognized in 2004, when he received the European Union’s Descartes Prize for Science Communication. Heckl has been professor of experimental physics at the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich since 1993, and general director of Germany’s largest science museum, Munich’s renowned Deutsches Museum, since 2004. He is involved in various scientific associations, including the Excellence Network NanoBioTechnology, as well as centers of scientific excellence such as the Center for NanoScience and the GeoBioCenter at the LMU in Munich.
