Berlin / Frankfurt, May 4, 2007 - MagForce Nanotechnologies AG welcomes an additional member to its Executive Board by appointing Dr. Uwe Maschek (47) as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This addition at the senior management level takes into account the company’s positive growth and the expected commercialization of nano-cancer therapy. The focus of Dr. Maschek’s activities will be on operations while Dr. Andreas Jordan, who founded the company and has led it successfully ever since, will focus his attention in the Board on research and development.

After studying biology in Heidelberg, Dr. Maschek completed his doctorate in 1989 at the German Cancer Research Center on the topic of "Regulation of MHC class I genes in tumor cells." He then worked as a Medical Information Manager at Wellcome GmbH (today GlaxoSmithKline) and subsequently accepted a position at Amgen GmbH in the field of oncology. There, initially as a product manager and later as head of the marketing department, he was responsible for one of the most successful product launches in the clinical sector (Neupogen® for stimulating the formation of white blood cells).

In 1997, Dr. Maschek founded the German subsidiary of the U.S. biopharmaceutical company Cephalon Inc. In his ten years as Managing Director of Cephalon GmbH, he was responsible for developing the company and establishing it in the German, Austrian and Swiss markets. Through numerous new product launches and a successful in-licensing and acquisition strategy, he was able to establish Cephalon as an important company in the fields of neurology, sleep medicine, pain therapy and oncology.
