Nanostart AG issued the first internationally nanotechnology index

October 10, 2006 (Press release)

Nanostart AG in cooperation with boerse-stuttgart AG and ZertifikateJournal (Schweiz) AG issued the first nanotechnology index showing internationally listed companies in the future market of nanotechnology. On Tuesday, boerse-stuttgart AG for the first time calculated and published the “S-BOX Nanostart World Nanotech Performance Index”.

To start with, the Nanostart World Index consists of 14 nanotechnological companies in six countries and is designed to serve as benchmark for the international nanotechnology market. This includes in particular young and innovative companies which benefit higher than average from the growth of nanotechnology. The index could also serve as investment vehicle for investors who want to give innovative nanotechnology companies a special position in their allocation of assets.

Boerse-stuttgart AG on each trading day from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. calculates the Nanostart World Index every 60 seconds. The index is distributed under the ISIN “DE000A0JZNV5”; the WKN is “A0JZNV”. Reuters publishes the index under the member code “SBOXNANO”.

The Nanostart World Index is based on 100 as of 18 September. The decision on the composition of the index as well as necessary adjustments of the rules and regulations is made by a committee consisting of boerse-stuttgart AG, ZertifikateJournal (Schweiz) AG and Nanostart AG. The composition is adjusted on a three months basis, i.e. on the evening of the third Friday of March, June, September and December.

The issue of the index is designed to enable Nanostart AG to map transparently the development of the worldwide nanotechnology market. The Nanostart World Index offers investors an information basis never seen before and expands the international range of indices by an innovative indicator intended to gain importance in particular among institutional investors. Thus, the index of Nanostart AG, for example, offers the possibility for the company to generate additional profit in its business division Financial Services with derivative products such as certificates.

“The technological evolution of nanotechnology offers chances which investors should not miss out on. The Nanostart World Index reflects the leading international companies in the revolutionary nanotechnology scene which have the potential to benefit from the historic opportunity of growth in the nanotechnology sector”, says Katja Lindenlaub, financial analyst of Nanostart AG.
