Frankfurt am Main - Nanostart AG has made an investment in ItN Nanovation GmbH, a nanotech company based in Saarbrücken, Germany. By Investing into the company, Nanostart AG is further strengthening its position as Europe’s leading financial investor in the nanotech segment.
ItN Nanovation GmbH develops and manufactures nanomaterials in large quantities and processes them to produce, among other things, innovative products in the areas of catalysis, filter systems, surface coatings and sensor technology. Alongside its head office in Saarbrücken, the company has a production facility in Halberstadt, which is Europe’s most modern production site for ceramic nanotech filters. With more than 60 employees, ItN Nanovation is posting dynamic growth and today already generates sales worth several million euros, placing it well ahead of many other young nanotech companies.
"Over the past few years, ItN Nanovation has managed to develop into one of Europe’s leading nanotech companies, although this has gone virtually unnoticed by the general public", says Marco Beckmann, CEO of Nanostart AG. "The company is excellently positioned and is posting outstanding growth thanks to its patented technology." Nanotechnology produced by ItN Nanovation gives materials quite new and hitherto unsuspected properties. For example, the company’s patented manufacturing technology enables it to prevent nanoparticles from fusing together in production, which in turn makes it possible to monitor and control each particle separately, while giving it precisely the required properties. The company’s products are used in a wide variety of industries. Nanotech coatings made by ItN Nanovation are used, for example, by such market leaders as Bosch and Siemens (white goods) in the manufacture of self-cleaning ovens. Another major field of application is that of ceramic filter systems. The filter membranes produced by ItN Nanovation have many advantages over conventional systems: they offer top quality at extremely reasonable cost, have higher thermal resistance, are resistant to aggressive media, and are not susceptible to bacterial or fungal contamination. In future, these nanotech filter systems will be used in the area of waste water treatment as well as in industrial applications.
ItN Nanovation will be using the extra capital received from Nanostart AG to further finance its dynamic growth, including investment to expand its production facility in Halberstadt. Under the transaction, Nanostart AG will have a seat on the company’s advisory board, which will be held by CEO Marco Beckmann. Apart from Nanostart AG, companies such as the Ludwigsburg-based TechnoStart and the listed Frankfurt company Heliad Equity Partners (SIN: 604729) have shareholdings in ItN Nanovation.
